Finally, some time!

The last few months have been pretty whirlwind, in what turns out is pretty typical fashion. Guatemala was great, despite spending the last few meals of money on a gorgeous and super amazingly warm blanket that I am allergic to. Returning to home in Juneau was also great, though jam packed with finalizing a move to my new/temporary home in Palmer, AK where I was living out of Toro (the amazing allergen-absorbing purple truck) for a few weeks before caving and renting some space from good bud Wiley.

Since then, its been peachy living as a forest firefighter, plugging 10-16h days for weeks on end cutting trees, grubbing dirt, hauling stuff and PTing like mad. Its really some of the most basic and honest work I’ve ever done, and has been great reminder of many things, like how easy being in school really is compared to busting ass every day, what an incredible difference fine details and attitudes matter, and those other old & golden lines. Maybe a future post on the vitals of that work.

Additionally some great projects have been sucking up mucho tiempo such as putting my first custom bike together from scratch, learning the finer points to playing backgammon, starting a garden, learning to repair vehicles, and super mellow weekend climbing trips, and figuring out the life plan thing.

The hardest things lately have been staying in touch with all you very cool people (having done a very poor job of this), remembering that an active body needs tending too, and finding time to explore the area between projects, but life is great when the absolutely hardest thing to do is decide which direction the compass should point: PA school in 2 years?
